Dear Future Relations,
I think of “all my relations” when I write “Future Relations”—not just us 2-legged
relations, but my relations with 4, 6, or 8 legs…and with wings and fins.
We are all in this together.
What are we in? This Sacred Earth.
We are so lucky to live on the one planet which makes a home for all of us, in this
dance of life and death.
Thank You—You who are greater than all of us. Thank you for this beautiful home on
this home planet in this home universe.
We will survive, if we know and accept that “we” includes all my relations.
But life and death is a dance. And sometimes I might step on your toes. Sorry—I didn’t
mean to hurt you. Maybe I was thinking too hard on remembering my steps. We all
make mistakes—all my relations make mistakes—sometimes big and sometimes small.
The human race, all of us, are making a big mistake now. We took too much from our
Mother Earth and now she is telling us, “No more! Stop and slow down! You are
hurting me, and so, you are hurting yourselves, and all my relations, all my children.”
Please stop, relax, and slow down. Home is where the heart is, so just stay home.
I am not going to fly to visit you. I am going to take care of Ann, my wife. I am going to
take care of myself by exercising every day. I am going to eat less meat and
dairy—although I can’t stop cheese just yet.
Choose kindness.
In 1993 I made a vow to our son, Ben, and his generation, and your generation. “I will
do every thing in my power to prevent his dying from Climate Change by 2050. Then, in
2030, I will stop and tell him ‘I did my best’ “
That vow keeps my love strong. Love, Karl
P.S. Who should we mother? It’s time to mother Mother Earth.I think of “all my relations” when I write “Future Relations”—not just us 2-legged
